What kind of day we will shape today?

I wake up everyday and I thank GOD for another day that I'm alive. We take it for grant! However all days that we have indeed are gifts from the infinite universe and we should be more than glad to have it. We have this day to shape it the way that we want, it is an incredible possibility. Can you image it? We can do wonderful things or not, but most of the time, it is up to us to decide. As you probably already heard we are the sculptors, the architects, the guides of our lifes. So, why not use this day and everyday to do things that really worth to live for? Why not expend our time to create something that really matters for us and for those that we love? Why not help? Why not be nice? Why not smile? There is no reason ! As architects we can decide how this day will be ! As sculptors we can shape it the way that we want it ! As guides we can follow the path of felicity and guide the others to follow us !
The only think that we need to do to create all this things, is to believe on ourselves. It is to believe that we are part of this entire universe, and that we are made to be happy!
In the end, it is up to us to shape our days. So, my question is; What kind of day we will shape today?

I got inspired to write this text based on the quote below,  assigned to Charles Chaplin. You should read it too, it is wonderful. Have a great day ! (Remember, it is up to you)

"I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I am important. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have. Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free. Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste. Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive. Today I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born. Today I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses. Today I can mourn my lack of friends or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships. Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do. I can complain because I have to go to school or eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge. Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or I can feel honored because the Lord has provided shelter for my mind, body and soul. Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped. And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping. What today will be like is up to me. I get to choose what kind of day I will have!" - Charles Chaplin

The Monk and The Merchant

"In an entrance of a small city a monk and his trainee was walking when a merchant stopped them asking:

- How are the people of this city? From the city that I come from they are nasty, selfish, arrogant, really bad people.

The master monk looked at him and said:

- You will find the same people here.

The merchant turn his back and went away.

Five minutes passed and other merchant came and asked:

- How are the people of this city? From the city that I come from they are friendly, kind, always prepared to help other, really nice people.

The master monk looked at him and said:

- You will find the same people here.

The merchant opened a big smile, thanked the Monk and walked to the center of the city.

The novice was chocked and asked:

- Master, how you can get two different answers to the same question?

And the master with a smile in his face replied:

- People will treat you the same way that you treat them. So, you will only find what you look for, no matter what it is. "

Somebody told me that story long ago and each day I believe more and more about it. If you wish love, give love, if you wish friends, be a friend, if you want that people treat you with respect treat them with respect too. I believe on it and you ?

"Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment."

What was the last time that you meditate?  What was the last time that  you took a time to think about your life, your future, yourself ? It is easy to get lost in many thoughts but it is even more easy to get lost in so many other things to do that it is almost impossible to have a time for yourself, just to relax and meditate.

As Lao Tse a Chinese philosopher said many year before Christ , "Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment". We will only be able to know others if we pay attention in their attitudes, in their behaviors and  in their needs. At this point we will know them. Why we think that would be different than know ourselves? We have to understand our behaviors, we should understand our attitudes, we must know our needs and soon we will be able to know ourselves...sooner we will be able to see Enlightenment...

The Tale of the Monk and the Scorpion

“Once in a monastery two monks walked about doing their morning duties. As they passed a small bowl, filled with rain, they saw a scorpion was drowning in the water. One monk reached in to save the creature. As soon as his fingers touched the panicking Scorpion, it stung him and the monk dropped the Scorpion back into the water. The monk sighed, and reached back in. This time he got his grip a little firmer, but still dropped the Scorpion when he was stung. He kept reaching in, as his friend looked on in confusion. After dozens of attempts, the other monk spoke up saying “Brother, why do you keep trying to save that scorpion? It stings you every time you come near it” the monk paused before reaching in again. As another sting bit into his hand, he smiled “Because it is his nature to sting, and my nature to save. Don’t forget brother, soon either I’ll stop feeling the pain of the sting and he will be saved, or he will stop being afraid and be saved.’ Compassion cannot be stopped so easily.’”

The tale above shows us something very special, we can’t change our behaviors or our thoughts based on the behaviors or thoughts of others. Think about it next time somebody bother you, don’t let it change your behavior. Stop, do not react right way, think; are you going to act as you? Or are you going to act as the person that is bothering you? Are you going to be you? Or are going to act like somebody else? Be yourself !!! Monk or Scorpion? It is always your decision!
